History
Established as a township in the 1860s, Traralgon quickly emerged as a hub for commerce in the growing Gippsland region. With the opening of the train station in 1877, the town became a key point of connection between Gippsland and Melbourne.
As industry sprung up in the Latrobe Valley alongside agriculture throughout the 20th Century, Traralgon continued to grow. It is now one of the main population centres in Gippsland, and one of the fastest growing towns in Victoria.
Traralgon sits on the traditional lands of the Gunaikurnai people.
